World Autism Awareness Day

Every year, World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated on April 2nd. This day aims to increase people’s awareness about individuals, especially children, with autism. Part of the celebrations feature educational events for teachers, healthcare workers and parents, as well as exhibitions showcasing work created by children with autism.

Autism is a developmental disability that affects the brain’s functions. The first signs usually appear before a child is three years old. People with autism often have problems with communication, demonstrate restrictive and repetitive behaviour and find social interaction difficult.
