Reporting to the Head – Business Banking Department the role holder will be responsible for the reduction and upgrading of NPL book of the MSME Banking Segment through the execution and scaling up of the team strategy whilst maintaining high level of customer satisfaction.
The Role:
Specifically, the successful jobholder will be required to:
- Identification and scaling up NPL collection initiatives to the branch network.
- Ensure we have statutory notices tracker, and all stakeholders are accessing daily reports.
- Ensuring adherence to collection and follow up policies for both PAR and NPL Portfolio.
- Confirm that all the statutory notices for cases under Business Bankers are issued as scheduled.
- Ensure all the demand notices that were not automatically sent to customers are delivered to customers and e-collect updated.
- Manage the tracker of all the legal cases, & of all cases awaiting insurance & credit guarantee claims.
- Follow up all the cases that are under marketing and ensure branches are part of the marketing channel for a wider visibility.
- Ensuring all non-performing accounts are vigorously pursued for appropriate curing solution.
- Liaising with Collection team and Business Bankers in ensuring PAR reduction by use of the collection tools.
- Maintaining and evaluating quality of loans to ensure compliance with Lending guidelines.
- Champion NPL reduction problem solving sessions with the various stakeholders.
- Monitor all restructured NPL accounts and ensure they are performing.
- Ensure increased usage of remedial solutions to cure NPL book.
- Ensure all loans have a relationship officer at all times.
- Confirm ARO Codes are changed incase a banker is transferred.
- Confirm the status of all the security documents and their location for all the cases under NPL.
- Monitor the portfolio performance and ensure there is no income leakage.
- Ensure all diaries and covenants under NPL customers are closed as scheduled.
- Follow up claims for all the NPL customers who are included in the various guarantee schemes and insurance programs
- Analyze the data and pick out any exceptions eg customers with two working capitals under the same memo groups for further investigations.
- Ensure we have competitive advantage in initiating policy changes backed with data driven insights.
- Facilitate training of Business Bankers about NPL management and importance of loan monitoring.
- Ensure credit facilities are well managed even when a banker is on long/maternity leave.
- Closely monitor overdrawn accounts under NPL and focus the bankers to engage these customer inorder to normalize operation.
- Ensure all NPL customers are in the right segment/branch/relationship officer for efficient relationship management
- Liase with property hub team and ensure there is visibility of all cases they are managing to the branch network.
- Ensure NPL model is used while restructuring eligible NPL cases as per policy.
- Collaborate with the various product houses eg Trade Finance,Mortgage,Asset Finance in following up their NPL cases in the
- warroom and while scaling up NPL reduction initiatives.
- Champion the upgrade of NPL accounts and control downgrades.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- Must have a university degree in a relevant field. AKIB/ACIB would be an added advantage.
- At least 8 years’ experience in general banking or in a financial institution; 3 of which are in a lending function.
- Risk anchored understanding/experience of Credit Management Goals, credit policy and NPL/PAR reduction
- Business understanding of Branch or Banker level relationship management
- A detailed knowledge of the all industry trends and practices locally and internationally.
- A good knowledge of the Bank’s products & services
- A general awareness of the Bank’s Credit Policy
- A good awareness of the Bank’s vision and focus especially in relation to MSME’s
