Our client, a Deposit Taking Sacco is seeking to recruit a qualified and professional Legal Manager with high synergy to meet the SACCO’s set goals and objectives.
LEGAL MANAGER (REF: LM/05/25)
Job Summary
The Legal Manager shall report to the CEO and shall be responsible for providing strategic legal direction, safeguarding the SACCO’s legal interests, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and managing all legal, contractual, and litigation matters. The manager also provides legal support to internal departments and contributes to corporate governance and risk management efforts.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Handle litigation and represent the Sacco in court.
- Manage contracts including drafting, reviewing, validating, and advising on renewals or terminations.
- Oversee securities, charges, discharges, and ensure proper custody of legal documents in liaison with relevant departments
- Ensure full compliance with relevant laws, Sacco by-laws, AML and data protection regulations.
- Provide legal advice, staff training, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with external counsel and prepare timely legal reports as required
Minimum years of experience required to be appointed to the position:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and Postgraduate Diploma in Law (Kenya School of Law).
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant legal experience.
- CS qualification, ADR accreditation and Legal audit qualifications and certifications are added advantages.
