Joel Kaba is the Director, Youth Financial Services at Co-operative Bank of Kenya, having joined in April 2026. He leads the strategy, growth, and innovation of youth-focused financial solutions.

With over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Joel is a highly accomplished leader with deep commercial and technical expertise. He has a strong track record in scaling digital platforms, developing and rolling out of new products and services, driving customer growth and unlocking sustainable revenue across 6 markets i.e. Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, and Malawi.

Prior to joining the bank, Joel held senior leadership roles at Safaricom and Airtel Africa, where he led the startup and turnaround of multiple business units, delivering transformation at scale and consistent commercial impact.

Joel is passionate about advancing financial inclusion, particularly for youth, through innovative, accessible, and digitally enabled financial services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Maseno University and executive certifications from Boston University, including Leadership in the Digital Age and Platform Strategy for Business.
